Real Writer Spider

Posted October 6th, 2007 by Jeff.
Can you tell I have a thing for spiders? I like taking shots of anything up close, especially when it involves one of the most evolved lifeforms this planet has ever seen—spiders.

Out of curiosity, I checked out your blog (we share the same name). I was amazed at the beautiful work you do. I’m no fan of spiders in any shape, form, or fashion, but this one really struck me, it’s simply wonderful. All the pictures I’ve seen on your site are amazing, keep up the good work.

    Jeffery,

Thank you so much for the compliment. I have kind of a thing for capturing spiders up close. I have some better ones of the same kind of spider from just a couple months ago, but have yet to find the time to go through all the pictures and post the best ones.

That’s an Argiope writing spider. In case you were curious. 🙂
    GREAT shot, by the way!!

Thanks Diana! Do you study arachnids? Just curious how you knew this little tidbit.

I used to absolutely scream and run away if even a microscopic spider was known to be sharing the same room as me. Then, as I grew older and set up my own house, I grew to accept the little buggars because they kept the bug population down. But I still shuddered just thinking about daddy-long-legs (Daddy)! (Long story goes with that!) Imagine my surprise when, years down the road of life, I found myself being entertained by the local version of a Daddy. Whenever I took a bath, he (she?) would appear on a shelf (just out of reach, of course). I had some music softly playing, and my new friend would bounce up and down to the beat. When a different song played that had a different count, he would barey pause in his change from 3/4 time to 4/4 time (or whatever). Then he’d just go on be-bopping!

So see, I don’t agree with you. You said something like spiders were the most evolved beings, or critters, on earth ever! I don’t think spiders “evolve” at all; I think they just bend a little here and there whenever needed. Perhaps it’s us humans who’ve “evolved,” if anyone can be said to have. Maybe we should just learn how to be-bop. Maybe that’s the real way to get world peace. Well, that, and, of course, Christ Jesus!

Your pictures are really, REALLY great! Some of them make me think, some make me take a deep breath and RELAX, and some make me wanna BEBOP – hey, HEY!!!

Thanks for sharing your story Janis! LOL

But I still think spiders are highly evolved just from the perspective that they live everywhere and in great numbers. As long as there is something around a spider can eat, they will persevere.
