Hiking Mount Baldy

The view I saw on the way to the top looked similar to this for a couple miles! I climbed from about 4,000 ft elevation to the top of Mt Baldy - which is 10,064 ft.

With the air temperature topping out at 127 degrees Fahrenheit this day, Death Valley lived up to being the driest and hottest place in the United States. But the climate does create some pretty landforms.

Driving through the Sierra Nevada Mountains

We saw some beautiful mountains, Mount Whitney among them, on the drive from Death Valley to Los Angeles. The sun was going down and really created a magical light as it did so.

Tarantula at Arcosanti

My trip to the west this year took me by Arcosanti to check it out. The sun set quickly and we only got a quick look, but this guy and a few of his friends were crawling across the dirt road on the way out.
